The decision is made, and the deed is done, folks! I’m glad to have this paint color thing sorted out. I’ve been over to my local Hirshfield’s about 5 times in the last two weeks or so. Yesterday my new buddy Lynn greeted me by name when I walked in the door, and now I have “contractor” status at their store. Score! And our kitchen is now a beautiful shade of super pale greenish gray: Benjamin Moore’s Gray Lake.
And the bathroom will be one shade darker: Benjamin Moore’s Gray Cashmere.
And we’re probably going with marble subway tiles for the backsplash. We’re looking around for good prices, but I like these from The Tile Shop:
The cabinets will be Benjamin Moore’s Mountain Peak White, which I’ll spare you a picture of, since it’s white. Use your imagination.
I’m gonna work my butt off on Sunday night to get the painting done and have pics for you by Tuesday. Why just Sunday night and not the whole weekend? Because Chris and I are out of town this weekend. We’re at a family reunion, actually, so I guess that means that I’m hanging out with most of the people who read this blog. But we managed to get most of the painting done before heading out, so I’ll leave you with this teaser:
In other news, I went back to my new favorite furniture store, Nadeau (dangerous!) to measure a mirror I’ve been considering to cover up the hole in the chimney. The mirror wasn’t the right size, but I didn’t have the willpower to walk out a second time without this little guy:
So he is sitting proudly in our TV room, watching me write about him right now. Chris definitely wasn’t thrilled that I bought it, what with all the money we’re spending on the kitchen right now…so to my new homies over at Nadeau Minneapolis: it might be a while before I see you again, but it was totally worth it! I envision this steely gazelle on a little table in my living room…
You know, once we move the microwave out of that spot and back into the kitchen. Where it belongs.
